China attacks UN linking its arms to Darfur

Beijing has attacked a UN report suggesting that Chinese-made ammunition has been used in attacks on peacekeeping troops in Sudan’s war-torn region of Darfur.	联合国在一份报告中提出，在苏丹遭战火蹂躏的达尔富尔地区，中国制造的军火被用于攻击维和部队。对此中国政府予以抨击。
Chinese officials said the findings of the expert panel were based on unreliable evidence and gave rise to false accusations.	中国官员表示，专家小组的结论是在不可靠证据基础上得出的，并引起了错误指控。
The UN has no absolute arms embargo on Sudan but suppliers must obtain assurances from the Khartoum government that any weapons will not be used in Darfur, where seven years of war have claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.	联合国对苏丹没有实行完全武器禁运，但供应方必须得到喀土穆政府的保证，确保相关武器不会用在达尔富尔。在那里，持续了7年的战争已夺走几十万条生命。
The report, compiled for the UN sanctions committee, said 12 different types of Chinese-made ammunition casings were found in Darfur. Ma Zhaoxu, a foreign ministry spokesman in Beijing, called the report’s findings “inappropriate”. He said: “We urge the specialist team to abide by the principles of being objective and responsible in carrying out its work.”	外交部发言人马朝旭在北京称，该报告的结论“欠妥的”。他表示：“我们敦促专家小组秉持客观和负责任的原则开展工作。”
Mr Ma added that China had “always maintained a responsible attitude of fully, conscientiously and precisely enforcing the Security Council resolutions on Sudan”.	马朝旭补充表示，中方“一直本着负责任态度全面、认真、准确执行安理会对苏丹制裁决议”。
He did not specify which findings of the report he considered incorrect. China frequently calls criticism of its policies “inappropriate” and accuses critics of lacking objectivity.	他没有具体说明他认为报告的哪些结论不正确。中国经常称外界对其政策的批评“欠妥”，并指责批评者不客观。
Mr Ma did not answer a question on whether China would delay the publication of the report as long as it contained the claims about Chinese-made ammunition. The report, which was reviewed by the sanctions committee this week, is expected to go before the UN Security Council. China is not expected to try to overturn the findings but it might seek additional information on how the report’s evidence was gathered.	对于是否只要上述报告包含有关中国造军火的断言，中国就会延后该报告的公布，马朝旭没有回答。这份报告本周经制裁委员会审议后，预计将提交给联合国安理会。估计中国不会试图推翻结论，但可能会要求其他信息，比如说明报告中的证据是如何收集的。
