U.S. Drops Most Powerful Nonnuclear Bomb on ISIS

  • The strike was the first use of the weapon and part of the Pentagon’s intense air campaign in Afghanistan against the militant group.
  • Separately, the Pentagon said that an airstrike in Syria by the American-led coalition had killed 18 Syrian fighters allied with the United States.




BREAKING: Pentagon confirmed the first-ever use of the GBU-43 in combat, which has the equivalent of 11 tons of explosives.




The nearly 22,000-pound "MOAB" was designed during the Iraq War but had never before been used on the battlefield.


The so-called Mother of All Bombs was dropped Thursday in Afghanistan. The Pentagon says it hit an underground ISIS complex.
